Frequently Asked Questions

  • Working with a Christian Therapist
Are you a Biblical Counselor? Biblical framework to guide their counseling practice. I, instead am a counselor who integrates faith into sessions to the extent that clients desire. This means I use evidence-based practices as a framework for practice while operating under a Christian worldview. Do you use scripture in session? I will utilize scripture if that is something my clients ask for. Will you push your belief system on me? No. It is not my job to assert my belief system on my clients. I only utilize faith in practice if it is something my clients desire. Can we still work together if I'm not a Christian? Absolutely! Many of my clients don't identify as Christians and we get to do great work together. Ultimately I believe it is my job to meet clients where they are and be a support to them.

  • Pros and Cons of Insurance
Pros Insurance can be beneficial for assistance in payment. Depending on your plan they may cover a portion or your full visit. Insurance companies can assist in helping you find the right fit by providing a list of in-network providers. Cons The amount insurance pays can differ on plan and company. Sometimes insurance limits payment until your deductible is met. If you have questions on what your plan provides, we suggest contacting your provider. Insurance manages the number of sessions they will cover, what services they will cover, and specific treatment modalities. This can limit your therapist’s abilities to meet needs as they see clinically fit. If we are out-of-network with your insurance company or you choose not to use your insurance, check out our reduced rate options, or we will be happy to provide you with a Superbill (receipt of services) to submit for reimbursement with your insurance provider.
  • Payment Methods
How do I pay for sessions? When you complete the intake paperwork you are required to put a card on file, so nearly all clients utilize our online portal for payment. Cards accepted are MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover.
You pay also add your HSA or FSA card. Although, tracking your balance will be your responsibility. If a card is declined, we will ask you add another form of payment prior to your next scheduled session. If you prefer another form of payment, we may have a discussion, but it is ultimately up to your therapist to determine if other forms of payment will be accepted.
  • Telehealth vs. In Person
Do you offer telehealth or in-person therapy? Both! The benefit of our office location allows for easy in-person access in the KC Metro.
